meditations/applications deals with two different cello sound worlds: one existing at the limits of the fingerboard and another in a scordatura-induced modal harmonic space. Common between them are elements of noise, distortion, and an overriding sense of intensity.

I had been long overdue to write a piece for Jaemin Lee, an incredible cellist and new music advocate who people will undoubtedly be hearing from more and more. To the right is the premiere performance.
